Fenomeno is my favorite character from

the game Umamusume: Pretty Derby!

She is a student at Tracen Academy who

aspires to be your friendly neighborhood

police officer, offering help to anyone who

needs it. Unfortunately, her intense (and

very beautiful) gaze tends to scare the children

and elderly instead. She's an umamusume

with a strong sense of justice and a big heart,

despising criminals and evildoers alike.

Fenomeno is 171cm tall, her posture never

wavering. Her navy black signature racewear

resembles a warden/cop, containing red harness

straps, utility pockets, two pins, white buttons

and yellow stripes. Her spiky, sharp hair with

gorgeous purple undertones, matching her thick

tail, falls just to her back. Two tamer strands along

the sides of her face curve inward, softening her

face that in contrast has very sharp features, such

as her deep violet eyes and slanted eyebrows.

She wears a large navy blue officer cap, which

displays an emblem of her position. The visor

is a dark blue with yellow accents, similar to

her uniform. The fur in her right ear is purple,

and the left one black, signifying that Fenomeno

is a stallion in real life. (Stallions, males, have an

accessory/indicator on their right ear, and mares,

females, on their left ear.)

Likes: Calligraphy, writing thank-you letters

Dislikes: Hair wax, mint candy

Ears: She secretly likes making the fur look dignified

Tail: It tends to sway in front of Boss (What she calls you, her trainer)

Family: They all prefer tsubuan (chunky red bean paste)

Secrets: She likes the circular sliced patterns of fruits and veggies

╰ She often stumbles upon relocating families of ducks

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is a racing game

about training your uma to become the

strongest and fastest on the track.

You go on a 3-year journey with your trainee

through her junior, classic, and senior year

and put her through vigorous training

and challenging races in order

to make the greatest racer there ever was.

So, how do we train Fenomeno?

How does she run?

What kind of races does she excel in?

In terms of racing strategy, Fenomeno

is a pace chaser.

This means that throughout the race,

she stays in the front of the pack,

following the leaders closely before she

surpasses them near the end of the race.

Out of speed, power, stamina,

guts and intelligence,

Fenomeno gains 10% more stamina

and 20% more guts when training.

In terms of distance, Fenomeno excels in

Medium (2000m-2400m) to Long (2401m+)

distance races, although she is by far

the best in monstrously long races,

such as the 3200m G1 Spring Tenno Sho

and 3600m G2 Stayers Stakes.

Fenomeno, the stallion, is a racehorse

from Japan who competed from 2011

to 2015. His greatest achievement during

his racing career was winning the 3200m

G1 Spring Tenno Sho, twice in a row, in 2013

and 2014. As an offspring of Stay Gold, the

famous silver collector and sire to many

great horses, his trainers and jockeys were

shocked but pleasantly surprised by his calm

attitude and lack of temper, which was

commonly found in his siblings such as

Gold Ship, Orfevre and Dream Journey,

other very well-known and

extremely successful racehorses.

He retired from racing to become a

breeding stallion at the Shadai Stallion Station,

with his first foal being born in 2017.

However, he was retired from stud work in

2021 as his offspring wouldn't win

any central races. He now lives

a peaceful life at Oiwake Farm.

Fun facts!

His nickname is Mamechin.

During the 2014 Spring Tenno Sho,

Gold Ship tried to intimidate him

by growling at him. This, of course,

didn't work, as Fenomeno won.
